Fourth
of July
In the United
States, Independence Day (commonly known as "the Fourth of
July" or "July Fourth") is a federal holiday celebrating
the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776,
declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. While 4th of
July is celebrated as the day of independence, the United States got
independent officially only after the war of independence, on September
3, 1783, when British king George III and US leaders signed the Treaty
of Paris.
