Kitty Litter Cake

by Kelly D.

It may seem pretty gross, but kitty litter cakes are actually pretty popular, especially for the shock value. The best part is, its simple to make.

Ingredients:

1 spice or German chocolate cake mix
1 white cake mix
2 large package vanilla instant pudding mix (prepared)
1 large package vanilla sandwich cookies
green food coloring
12 small Tootsie Rolls

1 new kitty litter pan
1 new plastic kitty litter pan liner
1 new pooper scooper

Directions:

Prepare, bake, and chill the cake mixes.
Prepare and chill the pudding.
Crumble vanilla sandwich cookies by hand or food processor. Take about 1/4 cup of the crumbled cookies and add a few drops of green coloring, mix until the 1/4 cup is all colored.
Crumble cooled cakes into a bowl, adding about half the remaining crumbled cookies, and pudding (not all the pudding all at once, a bit at a time until the mixture is slightly moist, or the consistency you want). Mix gently.
Line the new litter pan with the new liner (or skip the liner if you prefer), and put the mixture of cake/cookie/pudding into the litter pan.
Unwrap the tootsie rolls, put into a microwave safe dish, and microwave them until they are pliable (careful if they are hot!) and try to shape them into droppings (long and curved a bit here and there). Sprinkle the remaining cookie crumbs (dyed as well) around the top of the pan and droppings.. you can also place the litter pan on a piece of news paper and sprinkle some of the crumbs on the paper as well.
